There have been hundreds of reviews of Patrick's books and his work in general over the years. Some of the more interesting are available here: Ski and Board Magazine (1) (2) Unbeknown to him Patrick was also entered into the 2000 awards contest organised by the North American Travel Journalists Association (NATJA) and won first prize in the Sport and Travel category for an article on the evolution and global spread of winter sports throughout the Twentieth Century. Patrick's work is now used as source material for a wide range of publications, including academic studies and theses. Patrick is frequently approached by students looking for material, as well as resort staff, tour operators, editors, broadcasters... What others have said about Patrick and his work: "Thank you for your work on behalf of our sport." International Ski Federation (based Switzerland) "Patrick Thorne, being of an amusingly perverse disposition, admits to finding ski areas with the smallest verticals "much more interesting" than those with the biggest." The Independent (UK) "...the single biggest world-wide source of information on ski resorts..." Scottish Ski Club Journal "the world's expert on ski resorts and lifts..." Dr W McConnell in his book ' The Snowbird Tram' "...probably knows more about the world's obscure resorts than anyone else on the planet..." Daily Mail Ski Magazine "...timely, original, and typically days ahead of anyone else with fresh news..." Peter Kray , SkiPress Magazine (North America) "The World Ski Guide is a remarkable publication, put together in an extremely logical way." The British Ski Federation "As usual I love the way your sick mind works." Jules Older, SkiPress Magazine (North America) "You are a machine, a terminator." Fall Line Skiing Magazine
