Patrick has built up a library of several hundred skiing books over the years and a large filing system containing thousands of files on individual resorts, regions, countries and all aspects of winter sports.
Patrick has direct personal contacts with around a thousand people in the ski industry including specialists in all fields. He manages a mailing list of several thousand key resort and industry staff.
The image library extends to more than 5,000 pictures, most of them held both as transparencies and as high quality PhotoShop digital images. There are also several hundred image CDs supplied by ski resorts.
The Snow Hunter database contains up to 500 comparable facts from each of nearly 6,000 ski areas in 80 countries – this can easily be interrogated to find resorts and list or rank resorts on any of hundreds of different criteria. The database also contains around a half million words of reviews of the leading 200 ski areas in the world - updated regularly.
Patrick has written more than 2,000 news stories from ski resorts since 1998, these are stored in a searchable database so that all stories on a particular theme or resort can easily be located.
Patrick has more than a hundred features available on file to be modified, updated, expanded or compressed to suit client requirements.
There is of course a fully equipped office with computers, fax, copier et al.
Patrick has eight O'levels including English Language, English Literature and Maths as well as a BA (Hons) in English and Writing and an MSc in Computer Based Information Systems.
Whilst capable of writing on any aspect of winter sports, specialist areas include world ski areas, remote ski areas, indoor snow ski centres, ski area records, facts and trivia, climate change, family travel, especially but not exclusively winter sports and the Scottish Highlands and Islands
